How to Clear a Loved One's House After a Bereavement
Clearing the home of someone you love is rarely just a practical task. Every drawer and cupboard holds a memory, and the whole job can feel overwhelming when…
Charities we support
Usable items from our clearances are donated to charities across the North East and beyond. Here are the organisations we support.
When we clear a property, we sort everything carefully. Where items are in good condition, we donate them to charity or reuse them, rather than sending them to waste. Which charity receives which items depends on what is suitable and what each charity can accept. The organisations below are those we support.
Children North East is a Newcastle-based charity supporting children, young people and families in the region. Visit Children North East.
Barnardo's is a UK children's charity founded by Thomas Barnardo in 1866. Visit Barnardo's.
St Oswald's is a hospice in Gosforth, Newcastle, caring for adults, young people and children. Visit St Oswald's Hospice.
Butterwick provides hospice care in Stockton-on-Tees and Bishop Auckland. Visit Butterwick Hospice.
The British Heart Foundation funds research into heart and circulatory disease, and runs charity shops that sell donated goods. Visit British Heart Foundation.
Mind is a mental health charity providing advice and support to people experiencing mental health problems. Visit Mind.
Donated furniture, household goods and clothing can help these charities raise funds or support the people they serve. Read more about how we handle everything else on our recycling and responsible disposal page, or see how a clearance runs on our how it works page.
Every item that is reused is one fewer item in landfill, and every donation helps a charity do its work in our region. If you have items in good condition that you would like to see go to charity, tell us when you get in touch and we will do our best to pass them on to a suitable organisation. See also our about page and our range of services.
What happens to your things
We sort every clearance by hand. Good furniture and household items are passed to charity, metals, electricals and cardboard are recycled, and only what’s left goes to licensed facilities.
