Single items to whole rooms

Furniture removal: from one old sofa to a whole room

Need a wardrobe gone, a bed taken down or a whole room emptied? We remove furniture quickly and make sure good pieces find a second life.

  • Single items or whole rooms
  • Heavy and awkward pieces handled
  • Good furniture reused or donated
  • Quote from WhatsApp photos

Furniture is awkward in ways that few other household items are. It is heavy, it is bulky, and it always seems to be wedged on the landing or at the top of a narrow stair. Whether you are replacing a three-piece suite, freeing up a spare room or clearing a lifetime of furniture from a family home, our furniture removal service gets it out safely and responsibly.

What we remove

You can book us for a single item or for much more. Common jobs include:

  • Sofas, armchairs and three-piece suites.
  • Beds, mattresses, divans and bed frames, including taking them apart where needed.
  • Wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside tables and dressers.
  • Dining tables and chairs, sideboards, display cabinets and bookcases.
  • Desks, office chairs and filing cabinets from a home office.
  • Garden furniture, benches and old patio sets.

If a piece will not fit through a door or round a corner, tell us. Dismantling large furniture is part of the job, and we bring the tools and the muscle. We can also disconnect standard appliances and lift carpets if you want the floor cleared as well.

Booking and what to expect on the day

We like at least 48 hours' notice, and most customers book a week or two ahead, so you can pick a day that suits. If something is urgent, such as a delivery of new furniture arriving soon, call us and we will see whether we can help, though we do not promise same-day service.

We aim to arrive at 9am. A single item takes very little time, while emptying the furniture from an entire three-bedroom house usually takes about three to four hours alongside the rest of the contents. If you cannot be there, we can collect keys from a solicitor, estate agent or neighbour and return them afterwards. Our how it works page explains each step.

Giving furniture a second life

Good furniture should not end up in a landfill. When we collect it, we sort everything. Pieces in usable condition are donated to charity or reused, solid wood and metal frames are recycled, and anything that cannot be reused is taken to licensed recycling centres and waste facilities. We aim to recycle or donate as much as possible.

We support Children North East, Barnardo's, St Oswald's Hospice in Newcastle, Butterwick Hospice in Stockton and Bishop Auckland, the British Heart Foundation and Mind. Look at our charities page to see who benefits, or read more about our approach to recycling.

A few small things make the day run smoothly. Empty drawers and wardrobes of anything personal or valuable, and let us know about parking and any steps or stairs. Flats on upper floors with no lift are fine, but please tell us which floor so we can plan. If new furniture is being delivered, tell us the delivery date and we will try to fit around it.

Straightforward pricing

Pricing covers staff wages, fuel and recycling-centre fees, and it is agreed up front. Our vans each carry about 1.5 tonnes, roughly the equivalent of four 8-yard builder's skips, which is plenty for most furniture jobs. If the amount is too much for one trip, a second load costs 50% of the fee to cover the extra recycling-centre costs.

The easiest way to get a free quote is to send photos by WhatsApp. Show us the items, the access and the stairs, and we will reply with a clear price. There is no obligation. See our pricing information for more.

Why choose us

We are part of the 5 Star House Clearance group and operate a fleet of vans across the North East, so we can usually fit your job in without long waits. Our team takes care with walls, doors and stairways, and we leave the space tidy. As with any waste removal service, it is wise to check that a company is a licensed waste carrier. We are happy to show our waste carrier details on request.

Areas we cover and related services

We collect furniture throughout Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Darlington and Teesside. Local pages include Newcastle, Sunderland, South Shields, Stockton and Hexham, and our full coverage list shows every area.

If it is not just furniture that needs to go, consider our rubbish removal for bags and bulky waste, or a full house clearance to empty the whole property.

Call us on 07898 719 509, or send photos of your furniture by WhatsApp, and we will give you a free quote.

FAQs

Furniture Removal – your questions

Can you remove just one item of furniture?

Yes. Many bookings are for a single sofa, wardrobe or bed. Send us a photo by WhatsApp on 07898 719 509 with details of where it is and how easy access is, and we will give you a free, no-obligation quote. We like at least 48 hours' notice.

Will you take furniture apart if it won't fit through the door?

Yes, dismantling large furniture is part of the service. Wardrobes, beds and big tables are often taken apart to get them out safely without damaging doors, walls or banisters. It helps if you mention any tight stairs or narrow doorways when you send your photos.

What do you do with furniture in good condition?

We sort everything, and furniture that is still usable is donated to charity or reused. We support causes including Children North East, Barnardo's, St Oswald's Hospice, Butterwick Hospice, the British Heart Foundation and Mind. Materials such as metal are recycled, and the remainder goes to licensed recycling centres.

Do you remove mattresses and old beds?

Yes, we can take mattresses, divans and bed frames, taking the frames apart when needed. Whenever possible we aim to reuse or recycle what we collect. Let us know the number and size of beds when you ask for a quote, so we can allow enough space in the van.

What if I have furniture in several rooms or upstairs?

That is no problem. We can clear furniture from as many rooms or floors as you need, from a single bedroom to an entire house. Each van holds about 1.5 tonnes, and if a second load is needed it costs 50% of the fee. We will explain this in your quote.
