Gardens fall behind for all sorts of reasons: illness, a busy few years, a move, or a property that has stood empty. Before long the shed is full, the greenhouse has gone green in the wrong way, and the borders hold more rubbish than roses. Our garden clearance service across North East England gets the heavy, awkward and unpleasant work done, so you can start again with a clear space.
Whether you want a tidy lawn for a family summer, a tenant’s back yard cleared before a viewing, or an overgrown plot made ready for a landscaper, we will work to your plan.
What garden clearance includes
- Sheds and outbuildings emptied of tools, paint tins, timber and clutter
- Greenhouses cleared, including careful handling of glass
- Old garden furniture, barbecues, trampolines, swing sets and play equipment
- Broken plant pots, planters, paving offcuts and bags of rubble
- Green waste such as cuttings, hedge trimmings, dead plants and fallen branches
- General rubbish that has built up in side passages, yards and back gardens
We can also remove a shed or greenhouse that is beyond saving if it is straightforward to take apart. Tell us what you have in mind when you call.
What we do not do
We are a clearance team, not tree surgeons. We do not fell trees, take down large limbs or carry out stump grinding, and we would not suggest anyone does that without the right training and equipment. We can clear away the branches and timber once a qualified tree surgeon has done the work. If you are unsure whether a job is clearance or tree work, describe it to us or send a photo and we will give you an honest answer.
How it works on the day
Booking
We prefer at least 48 hours’ notice, although most clients book a week or two ahead. If you have a tight deadline, such as a sale completing or a tenant moving in, let us know and we will try to help.
The day itself
We aim to arrive at 9am. Once we have walked the garden with you, or from your photos if you are away, we get on with it. A small back garden and shed may take a couple of hours, while a large overgrown plot takes longer. If you cannot be there, we can collect keys from your solicitor, estate agent or a neighbour and return them afterwards.
Vans and pricing
Our pricing is simple and covers staff wages, fuel and recycling-centre fees. Each van carries around 1.5 tonnes, about the same as four 8-yard builder’s skips. Green waste and soil can be heavy, so if the job needs more than one van trip, a second load costs 50% of the fee. You can send photos by WhatsApp for a free quote, and we will tell you if we think it will need a second load.
What happens to everything we take
Garden waste is not just tipped. We sort it so that green waste goes for composting where possible, metal items such as old barbecues and tools are recycled, and any usable furniture or equipment can be donated or reused. The remainder goes to licensed recycling centres and waste facilities. Our recycling and responsible disposal page explains how we approach this, and our charity partners benefit when items are fit to pass on.
When hiring anyone to take waste away, it is sensible to check that they are a licensed waste carrier. We are happy to show our waste carrier details on request. You can read the Environment Agency’s guidance on GOV.UK.
Why choose us for garden clearance
Gardens are rarely a quick job, and we do not pretend otherwise. We will tell you plainly how long we expect to be and what we think the load will be, then stick to it. We bring our own vans and do the lifting. We are clear about what is included. We arrive when we say we will, and we leave the space tidy. Because we are part of the 5 Star House Clearance group, with vans covering the whole of the North East, we can often combine a garden with a shed, garage or house in a single visit.
Areas we cover and related services
We clear gardens throughout the region, including Newcastle, Whitley Bay, Morpeth and Alnwick. See the full list on our areas we cover page.
If the rubbish is not only in the garden, our rubbish removal and garage clearance services may suit you too.
